YAY for Christmas!!!

Following my bar humbugness of the last few weeks, I am now in the full swing of the festive season. I brought 'Deacon a Turkey, for his vacation from worky' and am really looking forward to Christmas.

Am trying my best not to get caught up in the commercialism of Christmas and have been trying to remember that it is the season to of good will, am trying to be nice to all (with a few exception e.g. Saddam, drink drivers, nasty shoppers etc..)

In the true spirit of Christmas I baked some mince pies and evil chocolate brownies for my team at work... luckily no-one fell ill from chocolate poisoning. Phew! We also do secret Santa at work...Santa Kate got me a bread making book....this is from the girl that has been on the Atkins Diet on and off for the past 12 months... I feel that she is calling out for carbs! Will experiment with the croissant recipe....yummy...God, no wonder my diets never work....am on a break from WW at the moment, will start again after the new year once I have given birth to my chocolate baby.

Am having quite a subdued Christmas this year as I did not want to repeat the mayhem that was Christmas 2002. Am sharing Christmas with good friends and family over a number of days....just the way it should be.

Green Soup...The recipe!

For those of you that want to share in the greenness here goes:

Poogey's Green Soup - Serves 4 (enough to take to work nearly all week!!!)

Ingredients:
low fat cooking spray
450g (1lb) potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 large onion, sliced
1.2 litres (2 pints) vegetable stock (using stock cubes)
nutmeg
200g (7oz) fresh spinach
Salt and Pepper

Get Cooking!:

Heat a large non-stick saucepan and spray with cooking spray, stir-fry potatoes and onion for 1 min. Reduce heat to lowest setting and add S & P. Cover the pan with a piece of baking paper tucked down into the sides and then put the lid on. Leave to sweat for about 25 mins, stirring every so often so not to stick.

Add the stock, a pinch or two of nutmeg and the spinach and stir together. Bring to the boil then blend in a food processor. Check seasoning and serve.

YUMMY!

Have just been creative and made some potato and spinach soup for my lunch over the next couple of days... Only it's turned out bright green.

Let's celebrate our three legged friends

For those of you that don't know, my little dog Pixie was hit by a car last weekend. She is lucky to be alive but unfortunately lost one of her back legs in the accident. This happened a week ago and already she is doing really well and was going out for 'walkies' two days after it happened.

The vet said that the amputation will not affect her quality of life in the slightest and that she will be chasing squirrels with as much zest and energy that she did before the accident.

The only thing that I can see being a problem is other people and their attitude towards her. On the whole she has experienced a great deal of 'Awww' and 'Bless'. However there is the minority that believes that it would have been kinder to have her 'put down'. My answer to you people is that if you lost an arm, should we put you down?????

So let us celebrate our three legged friends...... Long may they reign.

Santa Pod

Ok, so we have the car...The next step is where to drive it stupidly fast.....I know!!!! Santa Pod Raceway! So this is where Deacon, myself and the two tikes (Fiona and B'friend Chris) decided to go on Sunday. The aim was to meet up with Annabel and Neil (who also owns a stupidly fast car).

This would be all well and good if our car was running okay and not over boosting.... And to add insult to injury we broke down on the way (thanks to a snapped rota arm bolt). Anyway we made it to the Japanese car day and I am please to report that most GTIR Pulsars scooted down the quarter mile track in around 12 - 14 seconds...nnneeooowwww..... Deacon also managed to meet up with lots of other car geeks to discuss the likes of engines (what's one of those???) and stuff......

Although we didn't manage to 'run what we brung', a good day was had by all.

Woahhh!!!

So anyway, It's October already... Where is the year going?

Thursday, September 25, 2003

Oh My God

I don't know whether to laugh, cry or scream... Deacon picked me up from work in the Pulsar yesterday. Am scared for the following reasons:

1. My husband can't drive unless he is going at warp speed.
2. Neighbours! The exhaust is so loud that I can hear him coming from about 10 miles away (slight exaggeration but I will be investing in a pair of industrial ear muffs.)
3. There are only so many points that you can get on a license before being banned.
4. Petrol, it drinks a lot of it.
5. I am now rated after a car as well as the telly in our house.

Answerphones

Why don't people ever leave messages??? What are they scared of?

ROOOAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR beep beep!

Picking up our Nissan Pulsar GTIR tomorrow. For those of you who have commented that you don't like the look of them.. TOUGH POO, doesn't matter anyway 'cause it's so fast that you won't see it for very long. If you do manage to 'spot' it; check out the number plate, last three letters are BYE.

Work Ethics

Myself and others around me in the office at work have been trying to get to grips with a new phone system.. Nothing unusual I hear you say, however it seems that the world of work gets to some people more than others. What I am about to tell you is almost like the adult version of the time when you were a kid when you accidentally called your teacher mum….

Yes, one of my work colleagues actually sparked up a fag in the office, I can’t believe that she did it! I nearly wet my pants and then some…. What was even more amusing is that we’re still not sure if our Director saw her or not… tee hee!!!!

Two votes to one....nurrrrrr!

As usual I had to endure the Saturday night video shop ooberlooba (as predicted). I can only say one thing. The hours is a corkingly good film. mooaahhahahahaha.... I win!

For those car nuts out there, Deacon and I test drove our soon to be next car today.... A Nissan Pulsar GTIR. Very errmmm fast car, can't understand why a sick bag doesn't come as standard though?

Saturday

Hi all, I'm back and it's Saturday. Having fallen off the diet wagon on Thursday thanks to someone's birthday at work. (not very considerate are they!) I indulged in one of Asda's finest milk chocolate cookies, needless to say this led on to a pub lunch on Friday....Am truly crap. Never mind, diet starts again on Monday....!

Anyway it's nearly Saturday evening and have barely moved from the couch all day. Found many a bad movie on Sky that I just had to watch in case the ending was not what I thought it would be. (obviously, the ending was exactly as I thought it would be..) Have successfully avoided human contact with most people all day apart from my Mum and Annabel who were both in a far better state than I was as they actually managed to lift their fingers to dial my number.

Deacon is still in bed. This is not out of extreme laziness, it's because he works nights. This does not stop me thinking that he is a lazy barstard and should have been up and out of bed hours ago....

See tomorrows post to see if I win the war of the films.... Bets on whether I manage to get my husband to watch 'The Hours', or will I once again be subjected to lame action/thriller/horror, or worst of all... A B MOVIE!!!!!

Wednesday, September 10, 2003

Wow....It's Wednesday

And I am still on my Monday diet, something's wrong here!

Monday, September 08, 2003

But they definitely count on a Monday...hmmmphhh!

It is a Monday.
Monday equates to diet.
All diets start on a Monday....
they have done for the past 15 years.

So not wanted to disappoint anyone, I have started my Monday diet with a vengeance this week. In keeping with my all or nothing lifestyle I have also started a new exercise regime. (in addition to giving up smoking 5 weeks ago..)

ho hum.... at least I haven't given up alcohol or sex...

Calories don't count on a Friday

C.C.B...Poogey the demon obsessive - or is it?

My Husband believes that I have what he refers to as 'Compulsive Cleaning Behaviour' as to him I spend an unnecessary amount of time ensuring that our house is clean and tidy. Am I the only person who finds cleaning therapeutic??

I am in-fact married to 'stig in the dump'. Deacon (my husband) collects random stuff and is as happy as a pig in shit when he is down our local recycling centre picking out 'bargains' and bringing them home and presenting them to me as 'gifts'. Previous prize purchases include a bath, a microwave, a bathroom sink, a metal gate (that doesn't fit), a kitchen sink!? etc etc etc..... Give him credit where credit is due, he has saved us a bob or two over the years, however this is only the start of his hobby to take on a fictional childrens book character.

When I arrive home from work, I could tell you exactly where Deacon has been due to the trail of oblivion that seems to follow his around. I have come to the conclusion that not only does he collect and store crap dating back to his pre-pubescent years, he is on a mission to see exactly how long it will be before I crack under the mess and give in to his hunter/gatherer instincts.

Secretly I have to bin stuff when he is at work....if he catches me giving stuff away to charity he will put half of it back...'because you never know.........it might come in handy!'

So let's turn this around..What is the meaning of C.C.B.????? - Compulsive Collecting Behaviour me thinks!!!!!

First Day of Blog

So I am now officially blogging thanks to my big bruv - Maffydoo who manages to find all sorts of random stuff to do on the internet. Thought that it would be interesting for other people to read the weird stuff that I have to say as to be honest I spend most of my time babbling about nonsense. Here's to good reading......eat your heart out Bridget Jones....xxx

EEE HEHEHEHEHEH FIRST POST POKE!
